Joan Benzell, Doll Artist Miniature Porcelain Dolls up to 8". A true craftsman, Joan is responsible for every aspect of her doll making. From sculpting in clay to making her own molds; from pouring porcelain slip to firing a kiln; from china painting to assembling and dressing each doll, every phase of Joan's dollmaking has her personal involvement. Joan's small scale dolls are specifically designed to be an accurate 1" to 1' scale. Joan also makes a minimal selection of 1/2" scale dolls as well as larger (under 8" ) dolls. Most of her dolls are articulated from the head to the legs allowing the dolls to be posed in many different ways. Dolls can be purchased in kit form or fully dressed. Some dolls have additional props to enhance the style or character of the doll. Feel free to browse through these web pages to learn more about Joan and her dolls.
